Toronto's Selftraits Creates Custom Hyperrealistic Figures
Riley von Niessen — August 22, 2018 — Tech
Selftraits first launched in 2015, and has since been creating life-like figures for its clients, providing an interactive component to events with its customized 3D prints, crafting the perfect couple pieces as wedding cake toppers, and offering the ultimate family keepsakes.
To find out more about the studio, its highly impressive 3D photo booth, and how its team works together, Trend Hunter spoke with Joe Kiez, the director of marketing and design ahead of Trend Hunter's Future Festival World Summit in Toronto, where Selftraits will host an immersive Trend Safari for attendees.
As Kiez explains, Selftraits' main output is its 3D-printed figures, which have amassed popularity due to their exceptional detail. To create the figures, the studio provides a 360-degree photobooth that captures the subject from all angles, with a total of 128 images taken in the process. These images are then sent over to the studio's digital sculptors, who clean up any imperfections that may be present in the data before sending it over to the 3D printers.
