Believing that innovation is driven by scenario planning, Lawren Barnett is the Global Futures Director at Coca-Cola Company. She recently won Trend Hunter's Innovation Strategy Award in the category of Adaptive Innovation for her tactic of using "Extreme Scenarios" and then working back to the more applicable idea when ideating.
When approaching extreme scenario planning sessions, Lawren suggests visualizing scenarios with the biggest growth decline or a major divergence. She asks "what are the different ways in which we could prepare for some of these more extreme manifestations of these trends?" and "what sort of pieces can we get in place or how can we start to identify that we have major gaps?"
